Traditional Cottage, Kearney

While recently driving around the Ards Peninsula in Co Down, N Ireland, we came across a beautifully remote coastal town with period houses dating back hundreds of years. It was like stepping back in time.

This is just one of many of the old dwellings that are maintained so beautifully. What caught my eye was how the sunlight was breaking through the clouds and giving the sea a warm glow on an otherwise very cold and dull day. Seconds later it was gone.

When most people think of Ireland, I think they picture thatched roof cottages and green fields. I have to admit, occasionally that is what I think of, especially if in the rural parts. This image sums that up for me.
